What does a trip to the 2030 World Cup cost? 2026 prices in Spain, Portugal and Morocco

The prices of 2030 will not be the prices of 2026: during a World Cup, accommodation in the host cities doubles or triples, and transport fills up months in advance. The benchmarks below are there to compare the countries and to build a baseline budget, which you should mark up substantially for the weeks of the tournament.

Currency: the euro in Spain and Portugal; the Moroccan dirham (MAD) in Morocco. €1 ≈ MAD 10.7 on 30 August 2026 (as a guide: MAD 100 ≈ €9.30). The dirham is not freely convertible: change money on arrival (bureaux de change, cash machines), not before you leave.

Accommodation

• Spain: the average hotel night cost €122.30 in April 2026 (+4.9% year on year) — €95 in 3-star, €123 in 4-star, €296 in 5-star. Seville has the highest average of any tourist destination (€204.60). Source: INE.
• Portugal: a national average of €215.83 a night in 2026 (+4.8%), peaking at €272 in August and €239 in June. Lisbon and Porto are above the average (precise figures unverified).
• Morocco (classified hotels, first half of 2026): Marrakech MAD 975 (≈ €91), Agadir MAD 730 (≈ €68), Casablanca MAD 715 (≈ €67), Fez MAD 620 (≈ €58), Tangier MAD 580 (≈ €54). The country plans to add around 60,000 beds by 2030 (a €3.5 billion hotel programme).

A typical daily budget (excluding match tickets and the flight out)

An order of magnitude based on the figures above, for one person sharing a twin room, with two simple meals, urban transport and one visit:

• Spain / Portugal: roughly €100 to €150 a day in 2026; allow double that for accommodation during the tournament.
• Morocco: roughly €50 to €80 a day in 2026 (Marrakech is more expensive), with the same caveat on accommodation.

These are estimates built from averages; they are no substitute for a quote.

Saving money

• Cut-price train fares by booking as soon as sales open (Ouigo, Avlo and Iryo from €7 to €9; CP from €16).
• Transport cards: Barik in Bilbao (50% off), Mugi in San Sebastián, Tarjeta Bus in Zaragoza, Andante in Porto, the tram card in Casablanca.
• Sleep outside the host cities: Toledo, Segovia or Guadalajara are less than an hour from Madrid; Kenitra or Salé for Rabat; Mohammedia between Casablanca and Benslimane.
• Paying: bank cards are accepted almost everywhere in Spain and Portugal; in Morocco, carry cash for taxis, the souks and small shops.
