Málaga withdrew on 12 July 2025: bringing La Rosaleda up to standard was judged too risky for the club.
La Rosaleda, home of Málaga CF since 1941, held around 30,000. It was on the Spanish list submitted to FIFA in 2024.
2030
On 12 July 2025, Málaga formally pulled out: reaching the FIFA threshold meant a rebuild that the club called a “risk”. The city was replaced, at the federation’s proposal, by Valencia (Nou Mestalla), subject to FIFA approval.
