Atlético’s 70,692-seat stadium has already hosted a Champions League final (2019). Its participation in 2030 has been described as “in doubt” by the Spanish press.
Built in 1994 as La Peineta, then rebuilt and reopened in 2017 as Atlético de Madrid’s new home, the Metropolitano (Riyadh Air Metropolitano since October 2024) holds 70,692. It hosted the 2019 Champions League final.
The stadium stands in the San Blas-Canillejas district, in eastern Madrid, between the city centre and Barajas airport.
2030
The Metropolitano is on the Spanish list. On 2 July 2026, however, El Desmarque ranked it among the venues “in doubt”: the club is said to be weighing the revenue from summer concerts against having the stadium tied up during the tournament. No official withdrawal has been announced to date.
The final list of stadiums has to be approved by FIFA (December 2026 according to StadiumDB, January 2027 according to El Independiente — the sources differ).

Metro line 7, Estadio Metropolitano station. Allow 25 to 30 minutes from the city centre. Single zone A ticket: €1.50 to €2.00.
