Espanyol’s ground in Cornellà (40,500 seats) is the smallest Spanish venue; its proximity to the Camp Nou and its borderline capacity keep the doubts alive.
Opened in August 2009 in Cornellà de Llobregat, in the south-western suburbs of Barcelona, the RCDE Stadium (Estadi Cornellà-El Prat) is home to RCD Espanyol. It holds 40,500 and has had no title sponsor since July 2024.
The stadium is close to El Prat airport and well served by the metro and FGC trains.
2030
The RCDE Stadium is the smallest stadium on the Spanish list. In July 2026, the Spanish press placed it among the venues “at risk”: its gross capacity of 40,500 would be too low once media and hospitality seats are deducted (some 4,000 net seats short according to El Desmarque), and Barcelona already has the Camp Nou. No withdrawal has been announced.
Getting there
Metro line 5, Cornellà Centre station, then a 10- to 15-minute walk; or FGC trains (Cornellà Riera). From Plaça de Catalunya, allow around 30 minutes. Routes not verified with the operator: check tmb.cat before the match.
