Host stadium Under renovation
The Las Palmas stadium is to go from 32,418 to around 44,000 seats (the “La Nube” project); the first tender failed in July 2026.
Opened in 2003 in the Siete Palmas district, the Estadio de Gran Canaria hosts UD Las Palmas in front of 32,418 spectators. It is the only island stadium in the tournament, on Gran Canaria.
2030
The “La Nube” project (a suspended, bicycle-wheel-style roof, a façade inspired by Canarian pintaderas, 597 parking spaces) received planning approval on 1 May 2026. The target capacity is in the region of 42,000 to 45,000 seats depending on the document (41,854 in the municipal approval, 44,000–44,500 in the press), with an upper tier that can be dismantled after the tournament.
The main contract, budgeted at more than €174 million, was put out to tender for the first time in July 2026 without success; the companies were asking for more. A group of associations, political parties and trade unions published a manifesto against this public spending on 15 July 2026.
Getting there
Guaguas Municipales buses, line 91, plus a special “Fútbol” service on match days from the port and the Pérez Galdós theatre. Single journey €1.40 paid by bank card. Madrid–Las Palmas flights: about 3 hours, 16 to 18 flights a day.
