Work resumed in 2025 after sixteen years on hold: 70,044 seats, with handover targeted for July 2027. Put to FIFA in March 2026 as a replacement for Málaga.
Started in 2007 then abandoned for some fifteen years, the Nou Mestalla restarted in January 2025 with the contractor FCC. The 70,044-seat stadium will be the one of the largest in Spain. The compression ring, 50 steel columns weighing 30 tonnes each and the roof structure (4,800 tonnes) were finished in June 2026; the site was announced as 75% complete in July 2026.
2030
On 26 March 2026, the Spanish federation put Valencia and Vigo to FIFA as replacements for Málaga and A Coruña. On 2 April, Valencia city council approved the agreement allowing the stadium to be used. FIFA was due to inspect the site in the autumn of 2026, once it had opened its permanent office in Spain; the visit is now expected in December 2026 at the earliest, the Spanish general election of 29 November 2026 complicating the calendar (El Desmarque, 13 October 2026). “The decision rests exclusively with FIFA” (El Desmarque, 20 July 2026).
Target handover: summer 2027, in time for the 2027-2028 season. Valencia CF announces an opening in August 2027 (StadiumDB, 12 October 2026), where El Desmarque quoted 11 July 2027.
Getting there
The stadium stands on Avinguda de les Corts Valencianes, north-west of the centre, near the Benimàmet / Beniferri metro station (lines 1 and 2). Final transport arrangements to be confirmed when it opens.
